24 hour on-call emergency eye injury care

The following is a short summary of the main, normal and abnormal symptoms that contact lens wearers experience. The majority of these symptoms occur during contact lens adaptation and is eliminated within 7 to 30 days. Chronic symptoms should not be overlooked. After contact lens adaptation, patients will still experience symptoms in wind, dust, smoke, and fumes.

Recently contact lenses, specifically extended wear soft contact lenses, have been reported to cause severe eye problems such as corneal ulcers. Although, the incidence of corneal ulcers is rare, one should be aware of them.

Often patients are misled by discount optical outlets and choose the lowest price advertised for contact lenses instead of seeking quality eye care. Cheyenne Vision Clinic  provides patients with  proper wear/care instructions and follow up care. This leads to proper contact lens use and does not predispose a patient to having severe contact lens related issues. Studies have shown that the majority of serious contact lens related problems are due to noncompliance or uninformed patients. To eliminate any possible complications, it is necessary for all patients to wear and care for their lenses as prescribed by their doctor and return for regular post-fitting follow up treatment.

If any doubts arise whether symptoms are normal or abnormal, feel free to call. Sometimes a simple telephone conversation can eliminate the problem. Remember that we are available 24 hours a day.

An understanding of the most
suitable eye area cosmetics
for contact lens wearers may
be as important as knowledge
of the correct type of solution
to be used with the lenses.

Contact lenses should be applied before applying eye make-up and taken our prior to removal of cosmetics.

  •                 Hair spray should be used before lenses are are            applied because it can coat the lens and result result         in lens damage.

  •                 Mascara using fibers to produce exta long           lash length should be avoided. Water based formulas are preferred because they can be more easily removed with non-oily removers, and also to minimize foreign body problems.

Eyeliners and pencils should be applied below the lash line on lower lids and about the lash like on upper lids; never inside the lid margin

Eye area cosmetics can cause such things as stinging, burning, red eyes, allergies and infections. To avoid problems it is best to use preservative fee cosmetics and discard them if opened for longer than six months.
